Maki Tamura

Seattle, WA

Born in Japan and raised in Indonesia, Maki Tamura received her BFA from the University of Washington and her MFA in painting from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally, including at the Dallas Museum of Art, Seattle Art Museum and Kunsthaus Baselland in Switzerland. Tamura is a recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Fellowship in New York and the Artist Trust fellowship in Washington. Her artwork often plays with the line between sculpture and drawing and the contemporary versus the historical image.
